Temu has signed an agreement with EESTI PAKENDIRINGLUS, the Estonian Packaging Recovery Organization, to establish a framework that ensures packaging from orders on Temu is properly collected and recycled.

The cooperation is part of Temu’s broader commitment to the European Union’s environmental policy framework. To date, the company has established partnerships with more than 50 licensed producer responsibility organizations, covering categories such as packaging, batteries, and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

Under the agreement, EESTI PAKENDIRINGLUS will assume the fulfilment of extended producer responsibility (EPR) obligations for packaging from Temu orders in Estonia. This enables packaging placed on the Estonian market to be collected and processed for recycling, facilitating circular packaging solutions.

Temu and EESTI PAKENDIRINGLUS plan to launch joint initiatives to provide consumers with practical guidance on sorting and recycling of the packaging, such as plastic and cardboard. These efforts aim to boost public awareness and encourage active participation in the circular economy.

This agreement reinforces Temu’s commitment to ensuring EPR compliance across the Baltic region, with similar initiatives advancing in Latvia and Lithuania. These partnerships help sellers meet their extended producer responsibility obligations while supporting local collection and recycling.
