AMF Creation has manufactured party and wedding fabrics in Thale, Germany, since 2010. Watching e-commerce reshape the German retail landscape, the company was eager to explore new digital channels.
When Temu began inviting local German sellers to join its platform, AMF was among the first to sign up in September 2024.
"It turned out the problem wasn't the products. It was where they were being sold," said Marcus Fochler, the 34-year-old founder of AMF Creation. "We need a platform that evolves with the market, and Temu gives us that opportunity."
From Garage Sales to Digital Commerce
Fochler started AMF Creation in his garage, selling directly to local customers. The company gained recognition for Sensalux, its line of water-repellent, reusable synthetic table linens, before expanding into home and garden products.
But with at least 80% of Germany's 78 million population buying products online, AMF struggled to keep pace. Despite strong products and customer loyalty, sales plateaued.
Traditional marketplaces provided limited relief. Rising advertising costs and declining traffic forced Fochler to reconsider his approach.
Immediate Results Drive New Strategy
Three days after listing on Temu in September 2024, AMF's daily sales jumped from zero to 100. The surge came from new customers who praised the products' quality in their reviews.
"The application allows us to reach a huge group of new customers," Fochler said.
The platform's algorithm rewards products with high customer satisfaction and low return rates, providing visibility without expensive advertising. Operating in more than 90 markets with 19.3 million German users, Temu has become AMF's primary European sales channel.
Data-Driven Decision Making
Beyond sales, Temu provides AMF with real-time analytics and seller support that inform business decisions.
"Instead of guessing, we now have data to guide our decisions.” - Markus Fochler, CEO, AMF Creations
"Instead of guessing what customers want, we now have data to guide our decisions," Fochler said. "If something wasn't working, we could pivot immediately. That kind of flexibility was exactly what we needed."
Planning for Sustainable Growth
While pandemic demand temporarily boosted home and garden sales, Fochler recognized the need for sustainable growth. "After that, growth slowed. We couldn't rely on luck. We needed a long-term strategy," he said.
AMF now plans to scale operations and launch new products through Temu's platform. The company aims to expand internationally, leveraging the platform's direct-to-consumer model and product recommendation system.
"Innovation isn't optional. It's survival," Fochler said. "The market is always changing, but one thing is certain. We will always go where our customers are."
