Visually, they look cheap, which alone wouldn't be a reason for me to downgrade them. These bookmarks are not really ideal for thick books and very thin pages. They shift quite easily when the book is closed and don't necessarily stay in place on thin book covers. Sometimes you have to press the pages in to keep them in place. If there are too many pages between the rubber band and the plastic, it can cause creases on the top pages, especially with thin pages. I find that quite annoying. With expensive books like... I will definitely not use them for technical books. You can't do any damage with them to thin paperback novels, but I don't normally use bookmarks for those. The old bookmarks were better. I wouldn't buy the item again.
